Spent Sunshine

Oil on 11" × 14" stretched canvas.

Palette knife · Heavy impasto.

Painted in my Northeast Indiana studio.

Summer doesn't disappear quietly. In Spent Sunshine, thick strokes of gold, rust and green capture a flower at the end of its glory—still brilliant, even as it begins to surrender to the season.
